He obtained a Master degree of Chemical Engineering of INSA Lyon in 1974, a PhD degree (1978) of Montpellier University and a State PhD degree in National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse in 1982. He was recruited as Professor Assistant in 1981 at “Polytech” Montpellier (Engineering School of Montpellier University) and as Professor in 1989. After managing some research teams in different laboratories, he set up a research laboratory of chemical engineering in University of Montpellier in 2003, the main fields of research were focused on water treatment and transformation of natural products extracted from vegetal resources. He was the director of this laboratory till 2010 when the laboratory was restructured and integrated in the European Membrane Institute of Montpellier. He was also director of the Water Department of “Polytech” (1983-1986 then 1996-1999), Vice-Dean of this Engineering School (2005-2009) and even Dean acting (end of 2009). His research activities concern the study of intensive water treatment processes (fixed culture bioreactors, flocculation in granular bed, porous membrane separation and membrane bioreactor). He is co-author of about 125 scientific publications (more than 90 in international reviews), 46 invited conferences, 3 patents, more than130 proceedings in scientific congress. He is or has served on numerous committees and commissions assessment (regional, national and international level).
