Suming Li obtained his Ph.D. in "Polymer Chemistry" in June 1989 at the University of Rouen, France. After two years’ post-doc, he was named in 1992 research scientist at the Research Center for Artificial Biopolymers, UMR CNRS 5473, University Montpellier 1. From 1995 to 1996, he worked as a visiting scientist in the NSF Center for Polymer Biodegradation Research, University of Massachusetts Lowell, USA. He was named senior scientist of CNRS in October 1996, and research director of CNRS in October 2011 at the Max Mousseron Institute of Biomolecules, UMR 5247. In June 2013, he joined the European Institute of Membranes, UMR 5635, University Montpellier 2. Suming Li obtained the bronze medal of CNRS in 1996, and the award for scientific excellence of CNRS in 2010. His research activities include the synthesis, structure-properties, degradation mechanisms, and biomedical and pharmaceutical applications of degradable and bioresorbable polymers, in particular polyesters derived from lactides, glycolide, -caprolactone, and copoly(ester-carbonate)s and copoly(ester-ether)s. In recent years he is mainly interested in self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymers. He is author and co-author of 108 publications and numerous book chapters, patents, conferences and communications.
