Christian Guizard obtained his Ing. (MSc.) degree in 1974 at Polytech’ Montpellier (Ecole Polytechnique Universitaire de Montpellier-France) in Materials Science and Technology. He was awarded an Engineer Doctorate degree (Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble) in 1976 and a Doctorat d’Etat degree (Université Joseph Fourier de Grenoble) in 1981 in the field of Polymers Science. He holds a permanent position at CNRS (France) in 1976 working consecutively on physics of polymers and sol-gel chemistry of hybrid and inorganic materials. He was appointed Directeur de Recherche at CNRS in 1992 and worked at the European Membrane Institute (Montpellier) in the field of membranes science including hybrid and inorganic membranes. From 2004-2012 he moved to the Company Saint-Gobain CREE as head of a joint research laboratory devoted to developing advanced ceramics. Author of more than 280 publications and 25 patents in the field of materials science, his current research topic is on the study of fluid/material interactions in non-oxide ceramic membranes including silicon carbide membranes for water filtration.
